TEN THINGS YOU MUST DO AFTER THE IRONMAN

TEN THINGS YOU MUST DO AFTER THE IRONMAN
  1. Once you have crossed the finishing line, received your medal, had your chip removed make your way to the tent to eat and drink whatever you can.
  2. Keep walking around and get a massage from one of the many volunteers.
  3. Celebrate with your family and closest friends, who will be waiting outside the tent patiently.
  4. Keep moving and try not to sit for too long.
  5. When you get home have a bath because you will smell and it will feel fabulous to soak and let what you have achieved soak in.
  6. Sleep, sleep, sleep.
  7. For the next few days, focus on moving your muscles by walking, going for a chilled out swim or easy spin in the gym. This will speed up your recovery and prevent injuries later on.
  8. Have another event to do within the next two months, which is a less demanding on your time with your family and on your body but still challenging enough to keep you focused. This will prevent the Ironman blues and/or you putting all your hard work to waste by doing nothing for the next six months or more.
  9. Celebrate with a get together with your family and close friends to say how grateful you are for all their support.
  10. At the end of the season take a two week break from swimming, cycling and running with other activities such as walking, badminton, tennis, squash etc.
